Our Environmental policy

Corporate and Social Responsibility

Since 1997, VELUX has sharpened its focus on achieving its environmental targets by basing its environmental work on certified management systems.

All our factories are certified ISO 14001*, the international standard for environmental management systems, which underpins our targeted efforts to take a sensible approach to the environment and natural resources by requiring all the factories to set environmental goals and ensure continual improvements.

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is committed to promoting sustainable forest management through the independent third party forest certification. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international network to promote responsible management of the world's forests.

The VELUX factories were some of the first to start working with new standards that were adopted by FSC and PEFC in autumn 2004.

Our FSC or PEFC certified factories are controlled by an independent third party who verifies on an ongoing basis that we live up to the requirements in the FSC and PEFC standards.

* With the exception of a single factory - Shalakusha Wood Processing Industry, which VELUX acquired on 25th January 2005.
