Legislation
Sustainable communities are created when we design homes that people want to live in, that encompass the entire social structure and encourage positive interaction.
VELUX support architecture that promotes natural day light and ventilation, incorporates design solutions that 'future-proof' a building's use, and makes every effort to reduce energy consumption.
With the set Government target to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 60% by 2050, the introduction and implementation of government directives such as PPS22 and Code for Sustainable Homes, should aid in designing and building homes with lower carbon emissions, with a strong commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment.
The following documents are a challenging pack of measures for those involved in the house building industry:
Code for Sustainable Homes: A new national standard for sustainable design and construction of new homes.
Building a Greener Future: A consultation on the timetable for incorporating the energy/carbon standards set out in the Code into future Building Regulations.
Planning Policy Statement: Planning and Climate Change : A consultation on providing for new homes, jobs and infrastructure needed by communities which tackle climate change.
Review of Planning Policy Statement 22: Sets out the Government's policies for renewable energy, which planning authorities should refer to when preparing local development documents.
